The Ladies of Oak Lane represents the 12 Panhellenic chapters at Virginia Tech and their philanthropic efforts on and off campus. Whether it be through their own national philanthropy, a local cause, university event or other chapter's philanthropy, these women spend countless hours working to better the community. The Ladies of Oak Lane highlights some of the wonderful things the Panhellenic community does both individually and collectively.

Our Mission: To enhance the perception of the Panhellenic community by showcasing chapters' philanthropic efforts.

Celebrating sisterhood

Alpha Delta Pi finished off another great year at Tech, dedicating an entire week to our sisterhood. The week of April 16-20 served as this year’s Sisterhood Week. Each day served as a reminder of the importance of the strong and lasting bonds of friendship and sisterhood that only a sorority can bring.

Sisters wore blue, yellow, and red ribbons as symbols of the various days and the points on the Alpha Delta Pi diamond: sisterhood, scholarship, social, and service. Sisterhood Chair, Ellis Anne Sahhar, carefully planned the week, and many sisters attended the nightly events despite busy schedules.

Monday through Thursday’s events represented the four points of the diamond. Monday was a “Scholarship Night” which included a quiz game to learn more about sisters. Tuesday served the “Social” point when sisters attended a dinner at D2 prior to attending the Greek Awards together. Wednesday was “Sisterhood Night” where sisters were treated to a catered dinner and bonding at the Chapter house. Last but not least, Thursday night’s activity represented the “Service” point. On Thursday, sisters hand-painted flowerpots which were delivered to the families staying at the Roanoke Ronald McDonald House on April 28.

Aside from the nightly events, sisters further bonded together by wearing similar outfits on each of the days. On Monday, sisters donned their best maroon and orange in order to honor the victims of April 16, 2007. Tuesday’s Greek Awards inspired sisters to wear sundresses for the day. On Wednesday, sisters showed off their official Sisterhood Week shirts. On Thursday, sisters brought out their favorite raised letters to let campus know they were an Alpha Delta Pi.

All in all, the week helped us to remember the fundamental aspect of being a part of a sorority: sisterhood.
